York - 5 star hotel planned for 2010
£20m conversion of Grade II listed building, within walking distance of train station. The Cedar Court Grand is planned to have 107 bedrooms, meeting facilities up to 120, bars and restaurants, health & beauty spa.
Berlin - No 1 for International Association Meetings in 2008
ICCA reports that Berlin attracted the most participants last year, followed by Barcelona, Paris and Vienna. The highest UK city was Glasgow ranking number 33 in the world.

Manchester - Ryanair to end nine international routes
From 1 Oct the nine routes from Manchester that will close are Barcelona (Girona), Bremen, Brussels (Charleroi), Cagliari, Dusseldorf (Weeze), Frankfurt (Hahn), Marseille, Milan (Bergamo) and Shannon. Most affected flights would be switched to East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, and Liverpool airports.
Malaysia - Thistle opens 2 properties
Thistle Port Dickson Resort is a 5 star property 45mins from Kuala Lumpur, with 247 beds, function space up to 200, plus 3km sandy beach.
Thistle Johor Bahru is a short distance from Singapore, with 380 beds and extensive function space up to 650.
Ascot - New country house hotel for 2010
The Dorchester Collection is planning to open Coworth Park next year. 69 beds split between the Main House, Stable block and cottages. 200 acres offering outdoor pursuits, an equestrian centre & polo fields. Another hotel is also planned for 2010 at 45 Park Lane, London.
